Job Title: Data Modeller
Location: Swindon – occasional travel, approx.1-2 days/month
Contract Duration: 31/3/27
Daily Rate: £550/day (Umbrella)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Candidate will be enhancing, expanding and improving current date warehouse

Minimum Requirement:

• Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of Kimball and star schema data modelling
• Experience of taking source data and joining to existing model of warehouse
• Enterprise warehouse knowledge
• SQL/data skills

Key Responsibilities:

Data Modelling & Design
• Design and maintain enterprise-scale dimensional data models using the Kimball methodology.
• Develop:
• Fact tables
• Conformed dimensions
• Dimension hierarchies
• Bus matrices
• Star schemas
• Aggregate structures
• Define enterprise data standards for analytical modelling.
• Design models that support:
• Grants and funding analytics
• Finance analytics
• Organisation and people data
• Studentship data
• Research outcomes and impact reporting
• Produce conceptual, logical and physical data models.

Enterprise Data Platform Development
• Work with architects and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable warehouse structures.
• Ensure consistency across data domains through conformed dimensions and enterprise data definitions.
• Support the development of a single source of truth for UKRI analytical reporting.
• Design data structures that support:
• Tableau BI reporting
• Self-service analytics
• Advanced analytics
• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning use cases.

Business Engagement
• Facilitate data modelling workshops with business stakeholders.
• Analyse business processes and convert requirements into dimensional models and specifications for the ETL Developers.
• Support harmonisation and standardisation of data definitions across UKRI.
• Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards and Subject Matter Experts to develop trusted datasets.

AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement
• Design models that are suitable for downstream AI and machine learning applications.
• Support initiatives relating to:
• Grant classification
• Reviewer recommendation
• Application similarity analysis
• Business process automation
• Work with data scientists to ensure analytical datasets are optimised for AI consumption.
